Privacy Policy
Recall (“the App”) is a personal life journal published by memba (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what information the App handles and how it stays on your device. We designed Recall so that your memories are not uploaded to us.
1. No account, no developer servers for your memories
Recall does not require an account and does not operate a backend that stores your journal. Memory titles, notes, people, places, confidence levels, and related metadata live in a local database on your phone or tablet. We do not receive copies of your memories.
2. Information processed on your device
Depending on the features you use, the App may process:
- Profile. A display name and date of birth you enter during onboarding, stored locally to personalize your Lifeline.
- Journal content. Titles, notes, people tags, place names, confidence (Vivid / Fuzzy / Uncertain), milestones, and links to media you attach.
- Photos and videos. With your permission, Recall can read your system Photos / Gallery to suggest Moments and help you tag media. Originals remain in your system library. The App may keep small local thumbnails and asset identifiers so tagged media display reliably.
- Contacts. Optional. Used only to suggest names when you tag people. Contact data is not uploaded to us.
- Location. Optional. When you enable location-related features (such as Location history for Today review), visit or path data is processed on-device to help reconstruct places for the day. Memory content is not sent to us.
-
Backups you create. If you export a
.recallbackupfile, that file is created on your device and shared only through the system share sheet to destinations you choose (Files, Messages, cloud drives you control, etc.). We do not host those backups.
3. Network use
Core journaling works offline. When you search for a place name, Recall may query open geocoding services (for example Photon or Nominatim) over HTTPS so you can pick a place. Those queries contain the search text you type — not your full journal. We do not use advertising SDKs or sell your data.
4. Analytics, tracking, and ads
We do not collect product analytics for advertising, do not track you across apps or websites for ads, and do not show third-party ads in Recall.
5. Children
Recall is a general-audience life journal. It is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your region). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children via a cloud service, because we do not operate such a service for journal content.
6. Your choices and deletion
- You can revoke Photos, Contacts, or Location permission in system Settings at any time.
- In the App’s You tab, Delete all data erases the local database and sandbox thumbnails and returns you to onboarding.
- Uninstalling the App removes local App data from the device (subject to how your operating system handles leftovers).
7. App Store and Google Play
When you download Recall from the Apple App Store or Google Play, those platforms process purchase, download, and device information under their own privacy policies. We do not receive your journal content through those stores.
8. Changes
We may update this policy as the App evolves. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
